I could do with a tad bit of exaggeration, but boy this was my most horrifying encounter.

It was a dreading, long, painful wait at the hospital – for blood test result and the diagnosis. The terrifying suspense and worries that one have to bear throughout the entire time.

The blood test shows that my white blood count went up and the surgeon decided to have me admitted into the hospital and put me under observation to rule out every possible factors. The next thing I knew, I was on a potential risk of suffering from appendicitis.

Who knew episodes of countless vomiting and high fever could get yourself admitted into the hospital. (I thought an injection will do the magic). That was my worst 24 hours experience, really.

Thankfully it was a false alarm; the fever subsided and it was verified to be viral infection. All is well. Praise the Lord.

For quite awhile I was contemplating whether to take up this challenge due to the amount of commitment required. Nonetheless, I’m thrilled I went for it. Thanks to a friend who make me into doing this.

It was quite the experience I must say. As the name sounds, it was indeed thought-provoking at times when there is no inspiration at all, either for a photo or the caption. For this matter, I really admire those awesome photographers out there who are very determined to go for a 365 Days Project.

This project has left me with a tinge of mixed feelings of both happiness and reluctance. I’m certain I’ll wake up feeling hollow for at least the next few days.

What started off as an obligation has slowly changed into a passion for photography. You find yourself looking forward to take a photo each day. Now, that’s the interesting part of it.

Looking back at the photos has made me realized how much I’ve learnt and grown as a photographer. It sure was a great deal of progression.

Above all, it sure was a rewarding journey. To those that have encouraged me along this journey, thanks for you kind words of encouragement.

For a lazy person like me, I just want to do it the easiest way possible. Here’s the secret to the a simple but mouth-wateringly delicious Apple Crumble Pie recipe. I pretty much enjoy this recipe!

Despite my concern about this being my first attempt at baking a pie from scratch, I’m pleased with the outcome – sweet, rich and decadent.

Apple Crumble Pie

Ingredients & Step-by-step guide

8 Cooking Apples (preferably USA delicious)
300g White Sugar
400g Plain White Flour
240g Butter
1 Cinnamon Stick (optional)

USA delicious apples

Peel apples, remove core and dice.
In a pan, caramelize the apple chunks with 150g of sugar over low heat.
Add in cinnamon stick which is optional. (For my case, I skip cinnamon stick since I’m not a fan of it.)
Stew apples & stir every now until the apples are soft and ‘mashable’.
Transfer the apples into baking tray and allow to cool.
In a mixing bowl, mix 400g of flour, 150g of sugar & 240g of butter with your fingers until it becomes bread crumb consistency.
(Tips : Add more flour if to reach desired consistency.)
Cover the stewed apples with the crumble topping, without pressing down on topping.
Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until crumble is golden brown and crunchy.

Buttery crumb top, simply irresistible.

Now that I recall, this marks my third trip to my neighbouring country within a year. That’s pretty crazy for a year.

Highlight of the trip

As much as I’ve slowly developed a numb feeling towards this beautiful place, Singapore trip for the third time holds stunning surprises, some of which left me in disbelief and utter amazement.

Still overwhelmed by the many eventful happenings, I’ll swim along and see where this current takes me to though I must admit jumping into this ocean seems daunting. I’m not quite sure if I’m ever ready to take the leap of faith but I should be ready to embrace it.

The annual National Leadership Development Conference (NLDC) which was held in Singapore is my first ever international conference. I’m so very grateful to experience these five eventful days of fun-filled activities and much learning has been acquired. Again, it was truly an eye-opener.

The highlight for NLDC includes Global Village, Sight Seeing, Case Challenge, Gala Dinner and Sculling. The theme for this year is "We are AIESEC-ers empowering AIESEC-ers".

Global Village is an international cultural celebration where delegates from different countries are gathered under one roof to perform cross cultural sharing. Delegates dressed in their unique traditional costume will showcase the culture, traditions, delicacies and lifestyle of their respective countries.

I find Global Village very interesting and I really enjoyed this session very much. Where in the world do you get the opportunity to travel around the globe in 90 minutes and interact with internationals from over so many countries and regions?

Sight Seeing

Thanks to the OC Team for the interesting sight seeing tour. It was a privilege to watch the entertaining Wonderful musical water fountain, overlooking Marina Bay Sands and enjoy the sight of the Merlion with a whole bunch of empowering delegates.

Case Challenge

There came Case Challenge, the serious deal. On the first day of NLDC, Case Challenge was introduced to delegates. Established companies will present the challenges they currently face in their organizations and delegates were to choose on a topic to discuss and then present their analysis and solution to a panel of judges from respective companies and other delegates.

Case Challenge is very intensive as we only have two days to come up with a practical yet creative and interesting solution despite our very packed agenda. The Case Challenge topic my group chose was “Create Awareness in Reducing Water Wastage and Ensure Sustainable Lifestyle” for Levi’s company.

I remember vividly staying up until the wee hours of the night with my fellow group members, brainstorming ideas and pulling some 20 over slides together. It was quite stressful at times but I must say I’m more than amazed by my group having the ability to come up with a solution within a couple of good 5 hours discussion. In fact, all our hard work pays off when we were announced as the Case Challenge Winner for Levi’s company.

Gala Dinner

Gala Dinner! A night of gathering where AIESEC Alumni and AIESC Youth come together as a family to celebrate the true meaning of being an AIESEC-er.

All the more, it is a night of appreciation for the amount of effort delegates have dedicated into learning for the past few days. There’s nothing quite like receiving an award on stage; it gives a calm sense of satisfaction coupled by a great drive of motivation.

Sculling

It is indeed true that AIESEC-er work hard, but they party even harder. An AIESEC conference is never complete without the traditional Sculling activity. Sculling features two teams competing against each other to finish drinking in the shortest time possible. I had my fair share of fun drinking vodka and cocktails.

Have something to speak to other delegates but too shy to do so? Pen down your thought in a piece of paper and drop this sugar cube in their envelopes! Very interesting way to convey a message.

That concludes my five days worth of learning, discovering and sharing experience. It was a seamless experience and I definitely look forward to more conferences like this in the future. Thank you NLDC 2011 !

My first AIESEC encounter is both aspiring & inspiring – like never before.

When was the last time you felt inspired? A force so great accompanied with a rapid burning flame that propels you to go all out for something you’ve always dream of doing.

Tanjung Piai Resort, most southern tip of mainland Asia.

The three days two nights Local Leadership Development Seminar 2011 (LLDS) themed Aspire was held at Tanjung Piai Resort. LLDS has really been an eye-opener and mind-blowing experience for me. This experience has left an impact on me in ways I cannot articulate. Being surrounded by a pool of positive and self-motivated people with the right mind-set is really up-lifting. How more happier can I be having the opportunity to engage with these people?

“Slowly, but surely.”

Coming from a timid self that has issue with self-doubt and second guess to a person who walked out of her capsule. Having that first round of applause is a confidence-booster and the happiness that came from within is more than the satisfaction gained. I sure did not know how I managed to pluck out that amount of courage to take the first step but I’m certain that magic happened because of the people around me.

While it’s almost impossible for one to eradicate any inner conflict at an instant, it takes every little step to cross over that seemingly unreachable line. It doesn’t matter if it’s the smallest step ever for even the wildest dream is made possible with every small step taken.

Ray of hope

If someone believes in you, there must be a special element in you that make he or she believes in you in the first place. So stop giving yourself excuses or let any forms of uncertainties to hold you back from chasing after your dream. Take chance, take that leap of faith.

Thank you LLDS and the amazing people in it that make this a wholesome wonderful experience. These are extraordinary memories I will carry with me in life. I will remember this genuine feeling I now feel.

Now I can’t wait for MyLDS 2012 !

Opportunities

Opportunities are for those who grab them.

Many a times, when opportunities are there, my hesitation and doubts and too much thinking would lead me towards letting go of them. I was aware that it’s for me to grab chance and be in control of it. I guess it would be a matter of time for me to learn to enter the door that awaits me.

I can’t help but smile while browsing through the photos collection from the trip. This getaway has been absolutely wonderful, having spent quality time with the family. All the more, I’m more than elated to come home with a new shade of skin tone.

While I’m lazy to pack for another trip, I’ve to go. I’ll be back for more updates.

Boundary

Some people have to learn to start a conversation in a proper manner. Some people have to fathom that for each and every person, there is a special relationship between them and that boundary exists.

Once you cross the line, the whole system goes hay wired and it does not good but drive people away. Yes I’m experiencing this now; now give it a guess whether I’m the crazy one or the victim. Either way, we’re all still learning. After all, it’s never easy to strike a balance in everything we do.

We couldn’t have pull this off any better, somehow it works for us. These few days were spent in the company of good friends (some of which I forgot to have a group photo with). Nevertheless, I felt I owe Kuching more. Till then, next year!

The past few days have been a chocked full of jubilation and interesting activities for me. One of which was housemate’s birthday celebration, welcome to the club!

It’s funny how we stayed almost a year here that we were only close towards the end of the semester, those wonderful bonding session slash discussion slash mini gatherings we had. Nevertheless, better late than never. God tends to weave things in a seemingly simple yet wondrous way.

The splendid Canada Hill experience. The sunset was simply breathtaking, painting the sky with different shades of colour. Mesmerizing sunset, I stood there in awe with a sense of satisfaction overflowing me. It has been quite a while I sweat this much and I like the idea of being dirty with muds covering my hands and knees.

I’d definitely go back Canada Hill for my second hike.

Every now and then, I’m staring at the wall; either the blank white wall or red bricked wall whilst feeling the gush of chilly midnight air that swiftly brush through me.

I still find it hard to swallow this figure. If only I could have time rewind, everything could’ve been better. I guess not everything can be reverted and deserve a second chance.

For everything and in everything, you've gotta pay for the price. Maybe, maybe it takes a few downfall to take you down to make you realize the value of pain.

I’ve never been this regret before. Much regrets for the second time.

The only thing I can do now is to pick up these regrets and learn the hard way. Half breathing, the least I can do is to say a silent daily prayer.

Ola! We’re down to the last week of the not-so-crazy semester. This week was very slow-moving with one final and mid-term examinations to conquer. Feels so good to know I’m left with three subjects to focus during my study week next week.

On a brighter note, it’s comforting to know that home is two weeks away.

State of mood : Quite carefree.

It was as if a huge load lifted up from my weary shoulder. After a few dreading days of uncertainties, I hope I can finally sleep well tonight. It was indeed a blessing in disguise, when the good compensate for the loss. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for what I’ve achieved.

Now, there’s a good motivation to keep me going through this week the least.

Many a times, I question myself : am I walking the right path? where will this path lead me to?

Every now and then, I’m sliding back and forth. Why do I allow myself to slip into a situation, one that makes my life difficult?

Readiness

Thinker, this line alone could possibly explain the course I’m undertaking. I’ve always been a thinker, except when it comes to shopping, I can be quite an impulsive buyer sometimes.

I’d like to admit that it could be quite tiring at times, as it involves too much data processing and analyzing. I’d like to give a try, to be a feeler for once; one that involves a certain percentage of thinking.

Thank you God for responding to my prayer, at that point of time when I was in a crucial dilemma, I’ve found the answer to my doubts.

I may not have made the right decision and am still uncertain about what’s in store for me, but to the very least, I’ve overcame something that has been holding me back all this while – the timid shell. I’d like to believe this is the leap of faith I’m taking.

I’ve made up my mind, I did. Until I received the text, there and then I was hesitating yet again. For quite a long time, I was contemplating whether to go for it.

I wish I could’ve been more firm with my decision in the near future. I guess somehow, “I’m bad with choices” has been an excuse for quite awhile now.

Oh hey there, TGIF!

I find it interesting that the four of us share something in common : food! We’re willing to splurge on good food; for so long they’re good, they’re worth every penny.

Our dining experience at Mr.Ho’s Fine Food was great. What great night to spend, enjoying our meals whilst setting back and relax in this dimly lit restaurant. Total privacy.

Now I know where to satisfy mum’s and my craving for Aglio Olio in Kuching besides Basaga. Speaking of which, Mr.Ho has another branch in Kuching.
